Brite’s Bike Club and Safety Rodeo at Resaca de la Palma State Park

BROWNSVILLE, TX – Children’s Museum of Brownsville, their mascot Brite, and Resaca de la Palma State Park will host the next Brite’s Bike Club Family Ride and Safety Rodeo on July 11 from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. Brite’s Bike Club meets every second Saturday of the month at the State Park and offers guided bicycle rides for adults and children, a Kiddie Zone with arts and crafts and a tour of the park via tramcar. In addition, this month a Safety Rodeo will be offered to promote safe bike riding. Bicylce World will conduct a free bicycle inspection for all visitors and the B.I.S.D. Police Department will conduct a safety obstacle course. Certificates of completion and prizes will be given to all who participate. Safety helmets are required. Bring your own bike or rent one from the Park. From Expressway 77/83, exit at Olmito, take FM 1732, follow for 2.5 miles; turn left at New Carmen Road; follow for 1.5 miles; turn left to enter the park. Admission is $4.00 for adults, children 12 and under, FREE. 5K SUNCHASER SERIES (RUN & WALK)

Follow the Sun.... the 5K Sunchaser that is! Come join the “coolest” 5K’s in the Valley. We’ll be hosting four runs during the summer. Items will be given to the first 50 participants registered in each event.  We’ll have awards and refreshments after each race.  Participants running in all four events will compete for “Series” awards. Overall series awards will be presented following the last race.

 THE RACE: The "U.S.A. Surf N' Turf Adventure Race" at South Padre Island Adventure Race puts two member teams through a multi-sport challenge of 7-15 miles of urban mountain biking throughout South Padre Island, 2-3 miles of running in the dunes, and 2-5 miles kayaking in the bay. Teams will also face mystery events that will include a water activity (swimming without a PFD may be involved in this event) at Schlitterbahn Water Park...be prepared to get WET! The two person teams travel together and compete in all events, emphasizing team work. Teams will finish the race in 2-4 hours. Teams must provide two mountain bikes, two helmets, and two life jackets.

DIVISIONS: Coed, Male, Female, Coed Masters (each member must be at least 40 years old), Family (must be related), & Open Juniors (ages 13-19).

I will send you the official flier as it becomes available but for now please post the following add: The Mission Trails Club invites all valley mountain bikers to the 2nd annual Legend of Poo Forest Halloween Ride on Friday October 30th at 9:00pm.

Bring you lights and your mountain bikes. Guests will ride through a densely wooded area where ghosts, witches, vampires, werewolves, and all manner of tormented souls roam the Earth searching for the blood of the living! Join us if you dare!
